I'm not normally a fan of covering things in loads of tiny diamantés, I always cringe when I see people with blinged out blackberrys or iphones, to me it's more tacky than chic. However these Judith Leiber clutches are a work of art, and besides they're not diamanté really, they're 'crystals'. Although the multitude of colours are pretty breath taking my favourite has to be the chic and simplistic rabbit, it reminds of a Kit Williams piece with added glitter!
Retailing just shy of £3000 each I don't think I'll be purchasing one any time soon but that doesnt mean I can't stare longingly from afar....

I know I'm like a week late on this but it had to be said. There have been many a negative comment about Alexa Chung's met gala outfit but I honestly think she looks amazing. I love the crazy almost-fetish heels and dark make-up, so not like her which makes it so great! Not sure how it fits in with the theme of the American Woman though...

I've never been that excited by the celebrity-turned-designer collections. They're normally just ridiculously overpriced and crap quality. Kate Moss for Topshop especially has always bored me, so dull! But recently the Alexa Chung for Madewell collection has got me thinking maybe the celebrity/designer thing aint so bad...

Definitely the best of the celeb designed ranges out there at the moment are Mischa Barton bags, after buying one on impulse in the January sales, I'm hooked. Although I really dislike Mischa I have to admit her style was pretty cool and she was clearly inspired by 60s and 70s groupies. All the pieces of her collection reflect this as they are all clearly vintage inspired, yet they don't look at all gimicky.

This doctors bag is my absolute favourite from the Spring/Summer range and is on sale now at Tesco.com for £56.25. I'm not sure why Tesco stock the brand, and I've never ever seen the bags instore but buying them from Tesco.com is definitely cheaper than directly from the bag site. If you can't get to a Tesco never fear, John Lewis and Debenhams also stock the range!

For a few days now I'd been browsing the new collections on Vogue.co.uk instead of working and thinking about how well the new Pucci collection would suit Kristen Stewart. She always has her legs on show and some of the Pucci dresses are super short, as well as being a little bit 70s rockstar-esque and unusual, which is right up Kristen's street. Plus she's worn Pucci several times before. Yesterday I actually wrote a post which included some begging to Kristen Stewart to wear something from the new Pucci collection, however I was late for an appointment and rushed off forgetting to save it before I turned my PC off.

And then when I turned on my computer today I found this.....

Top to bottom: Vogue Russia March 2010, British Vogue March 2010, 3 of my favourite Vogue Russia covers from February and March from 2008 and July 2007.

Try to bide my time while waiting in anticipation for the new issue of British Vogue I decided to have a little browse through their cover archives. To my disappointment most of the covers were a little lacklustre, ours are never as eye catching as the Russians or as sexy as the French. Although I love Alexa dearly I thought even her cover last month was a bit naff; she looked bored and was pulling a really neutral boring pose. This isn't an attack on the photographer Alasdair McLellan, (the rest of the photos from the shoot were gorgeous and I really loved the sultry Julianne Moore cover he did last year) so I have no idea why the cover turned out like it did. Recently I've just been less and less impressed with our Vogue covers. They never look ugly or bad, its just they seem to be lacking that something, that 'edginess' that other magazines like i-D seem to have. That thing that makes you gasp with glee or has you in awe of the models sheer beauty or makes you think about fashion in a differeny way. It's been a while since a British Vogue cover has made me excitability hurry over to the till so I can rush home and obsess over the editorial for days after.

Maybe more avant-garde/highly stylised type covers aren't what British Vogue readers want? I mean they put Cheryl Cole on the cover so that must say something... Who knows many I'm just a tiny minority and I'm being overly fussy. What do you think?

now don't get me wrong, i love tumblr. its where most of my images come from and you can find some truly beautiful photo collections on there. but yesterday as i was scrolling through some of my favourites i began to notice that alot of tumblrs all seem to post the same images. i want people to come to this blog for something inspirational but at the same time orignal. and so i've decided that i'm going to give taking my own photos a go. i have bought a couple of old skool disposable cameras and will be spending my week off snapping away at anything pretty that happens to catch my eye.

When I went Christmas shopping on Saturday with my mum I had no intention of looking for gifts for myself. But when we were near H+M I couldn't resist going in "just to have a look" at the Sonia Rykiel for H+M stuff. Nothing in particular caught my eye in the ads, i'm not that bothered with lingerie shopping but some of the pjs looked nice. When I got to Oxford Circus store there wasn't any advertising for the range but after asking a sales assistant I found out all the Sonia Rykiel stuff was on the bottom floor.

There was a small black carpeted section of Sonia Rykiel stuff, they had all the floaty nightdresses and pjs I'd seen from the catwalk show on black velvety coat hangers and a lot of the lady gaga-esque structured underwear too. I was tempted to but a black night shirt which was supposed to be made of silk but it felt really awful and was pretty much see through. In the end I decided to buy a cute little 3 pack of lingerie just a little memento of the collection, (i've missed out on literally every other H+M collection and wanted a little piece of this one.) The knickers came in a sweet striped box and have little diamantés on them.

As I was making my way to the check out my eye was caught by some serious sparkle. High heeled slippers with fluffy pink details. Truly impractical and truly glamorous! I picked them up just to see my mum on the other side of the display waving a pair at me. They were only £30 so i decided to have them. And check out the diamanté encrusted heels! Serious bling. Can't wait for Sonia's full clothing line to hit H+M in February...

I received this award from Tracey at Searching my art and I have to write 5 facts about myself so here goes:1- My favourite era is the 70's, I think its pretty easy to tell from my blog!
2- I study English Literature and Journalism at uni
3- My favourite store is Selfridges. Its my equivalent of Tiffanys, I could live in there.
4- I'm going to buy tons of disposable cameras this Christmas and takes loads of pictures.

Huge pastel coloured frou frou dresses with cannonball shaped holes in them.
Amazing.
If Edward Scissorhands went to prom this would be the result.
V+R always have that one collection that blows my mind. They're ground breaking designs are out of this world. Their collections can't even compare to some of the others shown at fashion week that were just a display of 'pretty clothes'. Although its nice to just gawpe and gaze at beautiful clothes sometimes its nice to be stimulated and questioned by fashion too .
Viktor and Rolf clothes have a message and are always trying to manipulate fashion in new ways.

the spring/summer collections are starting to roll in, but what use are they to us right now? you may ask. well whilst browsing style.com i came across a rather cute trend at the Erin Fetherston spring summer 2010 show I thought i'd share with you all. Although the clothes were amazing it was a finer detail that really caught my eye...

slightly see through lace and silk gloves adorned with string, chains, sequins and bits of broken gold and silver jewellery. such a simple yet chic look that's perfect for autumn evenings out to the theatre or glamorous winter parties. you can honour MJ's style with a sparkly white gloves or be gorgeously decadent with a black lace glove covered in gold.

this glove is my personal favourite from the collection, love how the glove is nearly entirely see through with just a thin layer of black. This trend is easy to recreate and hopefully i'll have my own pair of Erin Fetherston party gloves soon!

its easy to make your own:

all you need is 1 pair of lace/silk gloves
some black or white string
old silver and gold broken and unwanted jewellery

simply sew the jewellery onto your gloves and your good to go.

these gloves are only £4 at asos.com and would be great for customising.

love the idea of wearing multiple watches. i've never really been a watch wearer. i only own one gold DKNY watch but its quite heavy and far too flashy for day time. the idea of multiple watches reminds me that keeping track of the time is pretty pointless. you can check the time but you cant control it. you've just got to let it be.

urban outfitters has the best watches on the high street right now. love the first one. but what i really want are some vintage watches. im thinking a broken one would like quite pretty, might be a bit of a safety hazard though.

I remember being in Year 7 and searching for any form of online game to save me from doing ICT work. It was there were my friends and I first discovered PaperdollHeaven.com and soon it became somewhat of an obsession. Getting to dress up your favourite celebs anyway you wanted? Sounded good to us. The craze got so extreme we even took it so far as to have dress-offs with each other. We both dressed the same celebrity and then randomly selected member of the class would judge the winner!

I went to visit the site a few days ago in a moment of sheer boredom and they've really upped their game (no pun intended). The clothes are so accurate, you can make outfits that are like identical to what the celebs wore.

i'm baaack!

tanned and ready to blog.
its taking me a life time to catch up with everything i've missed in the blogging world but i'm getting there slowly but surely.

Whenever I go abroad I like to stock up on my foreign fashion mags collection and it was Elle Espana that caught my eye this holiday. The free gift was a hot pink 'Fashion Book'. An extensive guide to Autumn and Winter fashion 09/10 full to the brim with glossy images and covering all the trends, models, runway sets, make-up looks and more of the latest fashion weeks. Whilst reading I came across a desginer that I personally had never heard of before...

Devastee Sullen faces, opaque legs and macabre monochrome minis.
The collection is called Pushing Up The Daises and although simple is brilliant.
I love the use of the sheer layers in the second look and the finale look is just amazing. If you look closely at the tights you can see that the desginers have purposely made smiley face and flower shapes from the rips.

fashion flicks?

Whenever I hear about a new film about the world of fashion coming to cinemas I usually groan in horror. Fashion films are famously bad and I usually find them totally uninspiring and dull. However a lot of my fashion inspiration does come from films, and so I bring you my top 6 films that i think should most inspire peoples fashion tastes.

(I'm aware Coco Before Chanel isn't on the list, judging from the pictures i've seen it should be but haven't seen the film yet so though it wasn't fair to include it.)

# 6- The Virgin Suicides Rich in a mix of dusty pinks, hazy yellows and faded florals this Sophia Coppola film is heavy in gorgeously feminine cinematography and seems to beautifully capture the essence of being a bored teenage girl. Set in my favourite decade: the 70's this film is one that I think is not known well enough and deserves a lot more praise than it gets.

#5 - Clueless

I've never met anyone that didn't like Clueless, its hilarious and the wacky 90's fashion makes it even more enjoyable. Knee high socks, babydoll dress and plaid galore, main character Cher is always impeccably dressed in the latest fashions. This film is a firm favourite with most fashion lovers and contains some great scenes including the one where Cher is held at gunpoint in her red Alilia dress. 'Its like...a totally important designer!'

#4 - Factory Girl

A biopic of one of the coolest models ever, Sienna Miller is a great Edie Sedgwick in this awesome film. Set in 60's New York its loaded with fur coats, tights and mini dresses, heavy eye make-up, and constant smoking from its cast. Hayden Christensen is super hot as Bob Dylan, Guy Pearce is a brillaint Andy Warhol and keep your eyes peeled for the Mary-Kate Olsen cameo!

#3 - Marie Antoinette
Another Dunst/Coppola collaboration this time in the visually breathtaking Marie Antoinette. Frills, petals, pastels, bows, feathers, lace, this film has it all. The ultimate in girly decadence Dunsts Marie Antoinette frolicks about in huge gowns, dainty shoes and a towering mop of blonde hair. This film makes me want to laze about in the afternoon sun, with a floaty dress and a fan.

#2- Sex and the City: The Movie Patricia Field at her best in the movie spin off of one of the best tv shows of all time. All the characters clothes got a little more eccentric in the films but as always SJP stole the show in her crazy Carrie ensembles. I loved those quilted white ankle boots and the Effiel Tower handbag! Mixing furs, bright colours, super hot bags and sky scraper shoes this film is 100% fashion eye candy.

#1- Breakfast At Tiffanys
One of the best films of all time, Audrey Hepburn shines in this brilliant story of socalite Holly Golightly. With her entire wardrobe for the films designed by Givenchy theres no way Audrey could look anything other than stylish. This film started so many trends (including blonde highlights in brown hair) and inspired so many (the photo of Audrey and the cigarette holder is one of the most iconic images of the 20th century) I think it definatley deserves the number 1 spot on my list!

I'm sorry for the lack of posting, things have been insanely busy for me. If you read the 'currently' section to the right hand side of the blog you'll know i've been travelling into London everyday for work experience at Sugar Magazine. It was a great experience, I was treated very well, I even got to write some bits and pieces which were then given to the features editor who said she may use some stuff as she liked it so much! I also got to meet the editor Annabell who was super friendly. Me and some other work experience girls helped her pick which photos of one of the hottest and most talked about celebs of the year to buy for use in a future issue. Cant tell you who but keep looking out for future Sugar issues!

The Sugar offices are at Marble Arch, allowing for several shopping trips on lunch breaks and I picked up this gorgeous River Island bag. NB - the photo does not do it just justice.

On my last day I was given a pink goodie bag of treats by Sugar to say thanks for helping out which i thought was really sweet. I got tonnes of CDs like Katy Perry and Girls Aloud, some teen books and beauty products, a selection of which is in the photo below. The green stuff in the pink pot is green hair dye, will probably save that for Halloween...

I know its not autumn yet but with the total lack of sunshine and dreary english weather I cant help thinking ahead to my winter wardrobe. I haven't owned a leather jacket since I was 11 but I feel now is the time for me to embrace the biker jacket once more. In these 'credit crunch' times it will probably have to be a faux leather jacket and as it will have to last through to January a cropped jacket is probably not a good option either...

Haven't found any jackets that have caught my eye as yet but here are some of my favourite celeb leather looks. I like how Kristen teams hers with yellow, makes it pop.

my first adult post!

this is my first post writing as an official adult!

I turned 18 earlier this week, and so I have received an array of fabulous presents, including a selection of perfumes, tonnes of Benefit make-up, and a gorgeous metal birdcage (for decorative purposes only of course.) From the boyfriend I received a strange silver machine that projects colourful nebulas onto your ceilings, giving the illusion of being in space! I didn't even know things like that existed but its super pretty and I love looking up at my mock stars at night.

the photo shows some of my favourite presents, including the infamous barry m nail polish I blogged about in an earlier post, my mum said she saw it on my blog and bought it for me! how sweet. However my biggest present of all was a Topshop Shopping Spree that I had todayin London. Complete with my own sales advisor and swish private dressing room the poor woman scoured the whole of Topshop Oxford Circus to find things that she thought i'd like. I was probably her most difficult customer ever and she wrote down a list of all my dislikes and in the end she ended up with a list that looked something like this:

No leggings
No high waisted items
No yellow
No polka dots
No shoulder pads
No one armed items

I despise all things 80s, and as the 80s are in, Topshop is cram packed full of shoulder padded one armed items, complete with matching leggings. I was doubtful that she was going to find anything at all for me. In the end she found the bottom floor with all the concessions stuff to be best for me and she pulled a range of items from lace tops, to body con skirts, to a 1930's tea dress that honestly made me look like my nan. She had to make two trips to the shop floor to find items!

After a long haul I finally found some things I liked. Here are my top two favourite items.

Rose and Ribbon Dress By Motel - £49
I liked this dress because it was alot more rock inspired and less girly than alot of the other floral stuff she tried to get me to buy. Apparently it 'suits my skinny figure'.

Illustrated People Jumper - £30
This hand painted jumper is so cosy yet light I thought it would be great for summer evenings. I like how intricate yet unusal the desgin is. She told me not to pair it with dark colours otherwise it would look too goth but i think i'll wear it with gray ripped jeans and some DMs that im soon to purchase.

All in all I would recommend the shopping spree, you get a free lunch at topshop and the staff are really friendly however even £100 doesnt go far in Topshop, i swear thier prices get more outrageous everyday!

I entered a national poetry contest a while back (the top prize was £1000 and being unemployed with no money for summer it seemed like a good idea). So I had a go at trying to write a little something and sent it away for fun thinking nothing of it.

When I opened my mail yesterday I was surprised to find a letter from a press company. The letter said although I didn't win the competition they want to publish my poem in a new poetry book they're making called 'A Guiding Light'. So it turns out my poem wasn't complete nonsense after all, and although I know the book wont be hugely successful at least I can say I'm a publish poet! Here's the poem...

Desolate desert, skull and bones
Two skeletons together, we call this our home
Willingly stranded from all humankind
Happy to live leaving all else behind
We'll escape persecution under the stars
Our love only shall judge us
Define who we are

When I wrote the poem I thought about an apocalyptic scenario, lovers in a trashed wasteland. I think that's why I like the new Insight 51 campaign so much. It kind of illustrates that idea pretty well.

is my new favourite label. Originally starting as a Surfboard company they quickly moved onto making super hot clothes. Their garments have a strong 90's feel to them and they apparently draw inspiration from surfers, skaters,and the 90's. I'm really obsessed with grungy 90s looks at the moment. Dear Ms. Chung,

I am writing to you about a very serious issue. Not only are you lucky enough to have an extensive designer wardrobe full to the brim with tight skinny jeans, floaty blouses and cute mini dresses, but also every time you look down to floor to take a careless glance at all those less fashionable people below you, you are greeted with this sight.

A gorgeous pair of beige double strap Chanel heels with black toes. Now don't try and be sneaky Chung we've all seen you parading the streets in an array of other heels from Vuitton, Louboutin and even more Chanel! However you are probably unaware of the extreme dangers that come from wear a pair of Chanels. With their skyscraper high heels your infamous long twig legs (see above) could snap if you were to fall in a pair of these beauties and so in order to protect your safety I propose that one pair of your gorgeous Chanels should be given to me (hippyhippychic). I'm sure you understand that your health and the future of career 'presenting' are at risk until you hand them over. Feel free to send them whenever you want.

I've got a question for you.

What do these 3 girls have in common?

Is it the fact they're all rock chicks?

Is it the fact they're all utter gorgeous with luscious long hair, intense eyes and cheekbones to kill for?

Or is it because they're all so uber famous that they get invited to every celeb party, get to grace the covers of all our favourite magazines and therefore make us all deadly jealous of them?

I can tell you its all of the above and one other factor:
Dominic Jones Jewellery.

His line of spiky and chunky gold jewellery has a wicked edge and is the perfect balance between devilish and decadent. His designs are very vampish, which is perfect in this twilight-obssesed era. Some pictures of my favourite pieces are shown below, I especially love the knuckle duster ring, so badass. Around $300 the jewellery isn't in my price range :( but hopefully if i search the net hard enough i can find some cheaper jewellery with a similar feel.

not too sure about these pink gloves with gold tips, no idea what you'd wear them with. i can see these on a rock chic during a gig, maybe juliette lewis...

Kristen Stewart i love her 'i-dont-give-a-fuck-that-im-famous' attitude. her clothes are a little more tomboy then i usually like but shes steering me onto a summer path of doc martens, ray bans and cigarettes. Cant wait for new movie 'The Runaways' to come out, a film from none other than my favourite era: the good old 70s.

on the cover of teen vogue showing us that disney can do hippy chic too!
i think with this shoot vogue were trying too hard to portray miley as squeaky clean teen and so the images come across less fashion than other shoots in the past. unlike for example the kirsten stewart shoot (divine!)
the styling here is very simple and almost virginal. i think maybe some earth-coloured accessories could of added life to this shoot... but who am i to criticize teen vogue!
who knows maybe mileys agent has decided its time for her to clean up her image. once and for all. heres hoping!

re-creating the hippy look nowadays can be really successful.

i cleared out my wardrobe, however i found nothing worthy of selling on so its all going to charity.

with my absolute lack of money i cant even begin to buy a new spring wadrobe

and so i have decided to write a comphrensive spring wadrobe list before i go buying.
i really need a wadrobe spring clean but i always worry that i'll end up with nothing to wear.

accessorize has a really good selection of jewellery at the moment, very on trend and not as expensive as i remeber it being. i picked up a cute gold and velvet intertwined bracelet on wednesday for a mere £5! all the spring dresses are came into stores now, kate moss' new collection launches today but im not really a fan. i always find it too simple and extremely over priced. However Urban Outfitters has a gorgeous range of dresses and i picked the best 4 to bring to you all below.

afternoon all.

my visit to the v+a yesterday turned about to be quite stressful as the person i was ment to go with was ill and it was pretty busy when we got there, but i had fun and the hats were beautiful. i found out though to my dismay that boaters do not suit me and in fact make me look like a private school boy, in a bad way. *sigh*.

The UK top ten is a crazy mix of comic relief songs at the top, kings of leon and oasis at the bottom and in the middle lies 3 very different ladies battling it out in 4th 5th and 6th postion. Entirely different, style and music wise i though i'd do a bit of a fun post today on these three ladies, giving my verdict on who should move on up the charts and who should shoot down to the #40 position with lemar...

#4 Lady Gaga - Poker Face
Love her or hate her you have to admit that Lady G is doing something different style wise compared to others at the moment. With her love for wearing no pants and killer heels (being a mere 5ft 1 I dont blame her) her electro beats have been hanging around the top 10 for a few months now but will Poker Face reach the success of Just Dance?

Judging by the video its quite likely. Once again we see Lady G girating and thrusting herself around in skimpy latex outfits surrounded by hot male dancers. With a love for all things shiny, we see her sporting some seriously bling nail art, odd make-up and a futursitic bob. Although this isnt really the sort of look you'd wear shopping on a saturday music videos looks arent meant to be that. There supposed to be outrageous and get people talking. And once again Lady G has succeeded at that

#5 Taylor Swift - Love Story

The complete opposite to Lady Gaga, everyones favourite good girl: country singer Taylor Swift is #5. With her sickly sweet southern voice, long curly blonde locks and cute cat eyes Taylor is the ultimate girl next door. Shes demure without being boring and had a unique style that i actually quite like. But does anyone else?

Her single, titled Love Story is pretty much what is says on the tin. Taylor tells us about the ups and downs she has with the man of her dreams whilst poping in and out of windows in a beautiful old castle/statley home. We see her in lots of white floaty numbers looking all angelic like making come hither eyes. Now this could easily be disgarded as aload of old tosh but Taylor beautiful voice makes this possible cheesy song work.

Hippy predicts Taylor will move up and take the #4 spot (:
#6 Kelly Clarkson - My life would suck without you

American Idol winner pop rock singer Kelly is back with a more fuller figure yet equally killer album. She doesnt seem to have a set style, it seems to change with every video but doesnt really have a theme apart from being average looking. I like the lipstick on the cd cover but I think that was probably a stylist choice.

The new single is pretty much like all her other stuff, shouty with a catchy chorus. The video features her belting out her song with the aid of a wind machine to seemingly make it more interesting. Nothing we havent seen before..

Hippy predicts it will stay at #6, sorry Kelly.

disneyland was a little rainy but tons of fun!

i must say i love the bunny ears at Louis Vuitton and the touches of baby pink at Chanel.
however my favourite designers Viktor and Rolf failed to impress me with their new collection. quite disapointing :(

nevertheless today is Red Nose Day!
im wearing my stella mc cartney rnd t-shirt with pride.
i have the madonna one as shown below on the lovley knightley.
hope your doing something funny for money or at least donating a few pence to this worthwhile cause.
my mum went all out for her red nose day outfit for work today with red knee high socks, red bows in her hair, the whole shabang. she gets very into these things...

balmain a/w 09-10 is quite possibly the most perfect collection i have ever seen! its black& white with hints of blues, its studded and sequinned and sparkly, its stripy, its spotty, its chic and its just about everything i love compressed into one collection. *sigh* if only i could afford just one piece! i'd have my hands on the black and white sequinned jumper in a heartbeat.. hopefully this autum topshop will create some beautiful balmain inspired pieces that i will be able to get my hands on!
